Cheltenham Face Shields for NHS Staff

Donation protected
Jenny Swanepoel, Head of Design and Technology at Balcarras School, is co-ordinating a team of volunteers to produce face shields for NHS and other front line workers.

So far, Jenny and her colleague Jane Denyer have made and distributed over 1000 face shields. These have been donated to local GP surgeries, Cheltenham General Hospital, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and various care homes in and around Cheltenham.

This has only been possible because of the amazing contributions from local people and companies. Many generous people in the community have donated their time, their 3D printers and elastic to produce the face shields. The school has provided resources, the D&T department has donated materials and staff from the school have purchased supplies to keep production going.

However, this is not sustainable and we need your help to keep going.

While there is a need for PPE from care workers, we want to continue producing face shields but we need to buy more resources.

We need to buy PLA filament to keep the 3D printers running, we also need to buy more plastic sheets and more elastic. These are the essential parts of the face shields.

Please donate whatever you can to this amazing cause. Jenny, Jane and their helpers are making and distributing between 100 -200 shields a day and we must make sure they don't run out of materials.

If you would like to help in another way or need face shields for your place of work, please contact Jenny and her team through this page.

Thank you!
