Mask Transit: NYC

Donation protected
Hi all,

Mask Transit is a medical student-run organization founded by Aishwarya Raja, a rising fourth-year medical student at Mount Sinai. We are a team of 50 students across 10 institutions packaging masks that do not meet the standards for hospital use along with validated educational material about proper mask usage. We are providing these mask kits to vulnerable members of the population as a secondary safety measure. We recently partnered with Mount Sinai Hospital and the East Harlem Outreach Health Partnership (EHHOP), a local student-run free clinic, to distribute 1000 mask kits to patients and their loved ones. Once hitting our milestone, we plan to expand to the greater East Harlem community through various distribution sites at homeless shelters, food pantries, and schools. We also have a Boston chapter that recently established a partnership with Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, an organization that cares for over 11,000 homeless individuals.

We believe this is the best way to protect both healthcare workers and the general public by flattening the curve and decreasing the burden on the healthcare system. New York City has yet to hit its peak, so these masks will serve as valuable tools in decreasing the number of new infections.

We are asking for donations to help with the packaging, sterilization,  and shipment of mask kits. For any non-financial donations including homemade masks and materials, you may submit your donation request here.

We can be reached by email at [email redacted] and our website is masktransit.org.

Stay safe and looking forward to hearing from you!
