Current and former North Hunterdon High School chess club teammates Angelica Chin, Jonathan Chin, and Michael Pierce are getting together to play chess with local children online and raise money for Hunterdon Healthcare to combat coronavirus. Hunterdon County children can sign up to challenge Jonathan to a game during the weekly live streams and Angelica and Michael will commentate, providing free games analysis for viewers. While this event is free, we encourage participants to donate to support Hunterdon Healthcare's fight against coronavirus.
If interested, chess players can use their chess.com accounts (or create an account for free) to join the club Hunterdon County Chess (chess.com/club/hunterdon-county-chess) online. The live stream will be hosted on Twitch (twitch.tv/hunterdon_county_chess/profile), where anyone can watch the broadcasts (a Twitch account is not needed).
Angelica Chin (NHHS Class of 2020) is a chess expert, an International Chess Federation (FIDE) Woman Candidate Master, and the 2018 & 2019 New Jersey Girls Champion. She has over four years of experience teaching children chess.
Jonathan Chin (NHHS Class of 2022) is a chess expert with a US Chess Federation (USCF) rating of 2142. He is the 2018 NJ 9th Grade Champion and the 2019 10th Grade Champion and a USCF Candidate Master. He is ranked in the Top-40 in his age group.
Michael Pierce (NHHS Class of 2019) is a Class B and Category 4 player with top-4 finishes in his grade level at the NJ Grade School Championships from 10th to 12th grade, notably a 2nd place finish in the 2017 11th Grade Championships.
