Paige’s PPE for NHS Campaign

We all know of the struggles around the world that are facing our respective health care organisations and we’re blessed in the uk to have the NHS (national health service). We as a family know just how amazing this service is more so than most, more below.  Sadly though like others around the globe our nhs are running short of ppe.

My daughter Paige is 13 and has Quadriplegic Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy and has been on the receiving end of NHS care all her life.  We’ve traditionally used our three franken-printers (printers we’ve designed and built ourselves) mainly to develop means of adapting everyday items to suit Paige’s unique needs.  Although physically challenged and none verbal Paige is mentally on par with a ‘normal’ 13 year old and fully understands what’s going on in the world and appreciates why we have to be a little more careful than most when it comes to protecting her from this awful virus.  

Sadly over the weeks of the lockdown here in the UK Paige’s mental health has been suffering somewhat, but this still hasn’t got her completely down and out. In her typical style she decided quite dramatically one morning that she wanted to help out and give something back to the fantastic people that have helped us so much in the past.

With the help of an organisation of volunteers called Med Supply Drive UK (who match those with equipment/facilities to those in need) we have been printing and assembling face shields and ear savers as much as we can.

So far we have been able to produce around 100 face shields and almost 200 ear savers that have been donated to local hospitals, care companies and other key workers.

We know this would be a huge ask but we’d really appreciate if you could spare anything towards our fundraising to buy the raw materials needed to continue making what we can for as long as we can.  These include plastic filament and acetate sheets.
