As COVID-19 continues to spread globally, it is everyone's responsibility to take proper precautions by social distancing and wearing a mask while outside. Healthcare providers battling the virus on the frontlines must also be ensured proper protection. However, not everyone has ready access to face masks.
Our Mission
Our MaskerAid MD goal is to provide a steady supply of reusable hand-sewn face masks to the DC metropolitan area through volunteer service.
Who We Are and What We Do
We are a non-affiliated, grass-roots group of volunteers dispersed around the DMV area who are sewing face masks to meet the need for PPE and the quickly vanishing supply. Our volunteers source materials, process them, and sew them into face masks before delivering to individuals and organizations in need. We cut, sew, sterilize, and deliver everything by hand.
Who We Serve
We have so far donated over one hundred face masks to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, BethesdaCares, Shepherd’s Table. We are currently working to expand our output to other organizations and clinical facilities.
How You Can Help
We hope everyone can assist our cause by raising awareness while staying home. If you are not in the financial situation to donate, please share this campaign with friends and family and follow our social media for updates.
If you are in a position to contribute, we all hope you will donate today. No amount is too small as all donations (less than 2.2% and $0.30 per donation transaction fee) will go towards our cutting, packing, sewing, sterilizing, and delivery. A donation of $8 can cover up to 300 feet of elastic, 12 spools of thread, or 20 machine needles. We are monitoring this growing need and are prepared to continue to support our community, as well as others. We recognize this need is great and are looking to make the biggest possible difference we can.
