RAM - May Opportunity for Generosity

Roanoke Area Ministries (RAM) started in 1971 as a partnership of local government and area congregations to serve some of the most vulnerable in the Roanoke Valley. RAM House is the largest day shelter in Roanoke, and is open 365 days a year. Every day guests receive a continental breakfast and nutritious hot lunch. The safe environment is a refuge for those in need, where they can receive toiletries, clothing, and other necessities. They offer laundry services and a safe place to store their possessions for the day. Guests in the shelter can sign up to work through the day labor program which allows them to earn a small income. There is also an emergency financial assistance program which helps with rent and utility bills.

RAM meets people where they are, and supports them in their search for a better life.

Due to COVID-19, the ministry of RAM has temporarily shifted. Some of the daily services are suspended but the provision of meals continues each day with pre-packaged meals. RCPC traditionally provides volunteers to cook in the kitchen and our pastor serves on the Board of Directors. Our Communion Fund offering helps to support RAM's emergency utility and rent assistance programs. These donations are yet another way we can support the ongoing work of RAM in our community.
