Brave the Shave For the Beatson and Jessica

Hi everyone, I’m Daryn, and I’m leading a fundraising event as a part of my school (Auchenharvie Academy) for the Beatson Cancer Charity. This is a charity which goes the extra mile in enhancing the lives of those suffering with cancer during such a difficult time in their life. They provide sanctuary’s for patients to relax and get away from wards and clinics, relaxing complimentary therapy, hairdressing and wig fittings amongst other things. Any money raised will go along way in ensuring the charity can continue helping those in need.

This charity has helped those in the Three Towns and wider North Ayrshire community many times, and a prime example of this is Jessica Ewing. Jessica is a 12 year old who also attends Auchenharvie Academy and just after Christmas in 2019 she suffered a stroke and furthermore was diagnosed with a debilitating brain cancer called Germinola in august of this year. The tumours from the cancer and the aftermath of the stroke has left her paralysed down the right side of her body restricting her to a wheelchair. For this reason we are also raising money for Jessica, this money will go towards keeping Jessica fit and ensuring she has the required equipment to keep her in education and make her life easier overall. All money raised will be split between both the Beatson Cancer Charity and Jessica.

What are we doing to raise money you might be asking. Well me and a few other boys from the school have decided to brave the shave and go bald in support of Jessica and other cancer patients which the Beatson helps support. We will collect sponsors and add these to the GoFundMe and if possible we will donate our hair to the Little Princess Trust if possible.
