While the rest of the world is closing its doors, we need help to open some!

If you’ve ever dreamt of your own market square restaurant, a bar stool with your name on it or somewhere dependably open for food – This is your chance.

Over the past 4 years, our B&B, Table d’hote and Cheeseskool, has flourished.  So much so, late last year we were approached to restore and reopen the market square restaurant at the centre of our pretty village of Olliergues.

If you’ve stayed with us, you know how beautiful the village is.  You'll know that the market place is on one of the busiest tourist roads in the Auvergne AND you'll have noticed the ancient restaurant, perfectly positioned to bring life to the heart of the village and attract tourists from miles around.  The restaurant is difficult to miss.

If you’ve eaten with us, you know Sam can cook.  If you’ve stayed with us, you know Nigel is a legendary host  OK, he might talk a lot, especially about whisky, beer and the lack of caramel wafers in this part of the world. We are working on that.

Yes, we know, after 15 years at The Coastguard Freehouse, we said our pub days were over.  But then....  we looked at the figures, drew up quotes for restoration, created  a  viable business plan (then amended it for social distancing) and found ways to fund almost all of the costs.

Almost.  We need to source the final amount, we need it fast, and we need your help.

We are asking for donations, BUT we are happy to issue you with a voucher for the amount donated, redeemable against accommodation/food/CheeseSkool here at Le Coteau d'Olliergues and at the restaurant when it opens in the summer of 2021.

So, if you donate 65 €, it’s equal to a nights accommodation & breakfast.
1000 € gets you 7 days accommodation in the family suite & evening meals.
35 € for the CheeseSkool experience.  The voucher can be redeemed anytime - there is no time limit - although, if you're thinking of Burn's Night, best get in quick!

Other perks are available, including having the dish of the day named after you, one to one cookery lessons via Skype and if you've ever fancied your own market place restaurant - 'Chef for a day' experiences.   Everyone who makes a donation can have their name added to our FOUNDER'S WALL and in addition, we will provide you with a running commentary on our progress, either by email or your preferred method of social media.  That said, donate extra and we promise never to bother you again.  We’re clearly not proud.

We realise that fund raising during a world pandemic isn’t great timing but this really is now or never.  There has been a huge increase in property purchases in and around the village and we fear this ancient restaurant will be snapped up for a second (or 'alternative' confinement) home.  We have this one opportunity to breathe new life into the old restaurant and the market place of Olliergues.

Please help if you can – either by donating or spreading the word to someone who might. We would be forever grateful and we hope visions of us covered in ancient plaster dust will provide you some amusement over winter 2020.

Thank you, take care and we hope to see you soon!

Bonjour,
