Greek Hurricane - help for Assos

Donation protected

Help the people of one of the loveliest Greek villages recover from hurricane Ianos.

Assos is a small village of approximately 100 inhabitants on the island of Kefalonia. On September 18th, the village was severly hit by a "medicane" (mediterranean hurricane). Due to heavy rainfall a river of mud and rocks flooded the place with horrifying strength.

The army and volunteers are currently working hard to excavate the village. This takes enormous effort simply as so much debris has come down the mountain.

With this action I want to support the villagers of Assos and help them restore their lovely place after the village square and the streets have been cleared. I will spend the money after consulting with the mayor of Assos, Christos Kokkolis. Of course I will report on this site about the manner in which the money that I collect will be spent.

I have started this action because Assos has been a very dear place to me ever since I first visited it with my parents at the age of 15. It is the most picturesque place that I have ever visited and it hurts me to hear my friends talk about the damage that their village has suffered.

I am a mother, I have a law degree and I speak Greek. And I thought this was the moment for me to take action.

Thank you so much for your attention, and hopefully for your support!
