Alicia was due with baby Charli August 26th.
On May 31st, 2020 Alicia unexpectedly went into labor with Charli due to a placenta abruption, 13 weeks before her due date. Because Charli's heart rate was decreasing the Dr. made the decision to do an emergency C-Section.
Charli Ann Jaskolski was born at 27 weeks on May 31st, 2020 at 9:39 am weighing 2.6lbs.

When Charli was 7 days old Alicia and Matt were told that Charli had two, grade 4 bleeds in her brain, which is the highest level hemorrhage a premature infant can have. They were told Charli would have severe cerebral palsy. She would be deaf, blind, and would never be able to walk, or talk. They said Charli was going to go through numerous surgeries, need shunts in her head and be on a ventilator. Alicia and Matt basically were told that because of the complications Charli would face, they would eventually have to choose if the quality of Charli's life was worth living.

They are so grateful for the miraculous gift little Charli's life has been. Alicia and Matt fortunately were not faced to make that unimaginable decision, if her quality of life was worth living...because by God's grace she has defied all odds and is a living miracle, there is power in prayer!!

Despite what was initially predicted Charli has made SO MUCH progress since birth and was blessed with such loving Dr's , & nurses taking care of her, along with her amazing parents.  According to nurses Charli would not be as far along as she is had it not have been for Alicia by her side everyday. Alicia chose to take a leave of absence from her job in order to provide as much love and support she could during their journey in the NICU, including pumping her breast milk so she could provide Charli with the best nutrition to help strengthen her little body.

They call Charli their warrior princess but princess's need heroes and she couldn't have gone this far without God giving her two of the strongest heroes, selflessly staying by her side, loving her, fighting for her, praying for her and never giving up on her.
Their full story will be documented soon through their caring bridge website.
With that said, this journey has not been an easy one. The first 117 days of Charli's life was spent in the NICU. If anyone is familiar with any circumstance surrounding the NICU you know the journey is a roller coaster of emotions and any turn of events, whether unexpected or foreseen is a difficult season of life to walk through.

Charli is a miracle baby, no doubt.
4.5 months old now since birth and we are praising God that Charli is NOT deaf or blind and they are hopeful that she will not need shunts.  Since both hemorrhages have retracted it is uncertain at this point if Charli will have cerebral palsy or brain damage due to them initially forming. The Dr's say they won't know for sure until she gets older and goes through milestones. Her life is still a miracle through and through.......and she is FINALLY home.

Since being home Charli remains on oxygen to help  keep her stamina to ensure she continues to eat properly.
Because Charli has to be on oxygen Alicia is unable to go back to work like she had planned as she needs to care for her little peanut.

We ask you all to continue to pray for sweet little Charli Ann and her family. They appreciate all the love and support that has been given throughout this journey so far.
If you feel led to bless them in a tangible way, donations will be used towards the needs of the family during this time, thank you.
