Help Save Groot's Foot

Donation protected
I got Groot when he and his sister were 2 weeks old after their mother, a local stray, disappeared. They were bottle raised and are very loved. They are now 3.5 years old and Groot loves to cuddle on the couch every night. Three weeks ago, while in recovery from an unrelated procedure, Groot reacted badly to waking from the anesthesia, got his foot hung in his cage and broke it. He has a compound fracture of two of his metatarsal bones, the bones connecting his toes to his ankle. He also dislocated his ankle. Initial treatments were unsuccessful at setting and splinting the fractures and this weekend he had to be taken to a speciality clinic. He received a new splint, but xrays now show bone infections.  The speciality surgeon suggested splinting, amputation or orthopedic surgery. I couldn't bring myself to amputate his leg as he's young and active. We chose splinting, as that was the option we could immediately afford.  Groot hates his splint! We're having to keep him heavily medicated so he doesn't fight it. Splinting will take at least 12 weeks with weekly anesthesia to change his splint. With his troubles waking up and his hatred of the splint, I'm trying to get him the surgery he needs for a more successful recovery. His little "brother" misses his playmate and I miss my nightly cuddles. Please help me help my baby.
