From Georgia to Maine she spread her wings!

My journey started last March.  Distraught because of the pandemic,  anxiety overcame me. Without knowing which direction to go, I remembered the older man I had run into at Harriman State Park who told me about the Appalachian Trail.  Then my great friend down in Texas encouraged me to pursue my passions and since then life has really been amazing and worth living. I started writing about the racism I encountered back in June on the Facebook Appalachian Trail groups and submitted the piece to the Appalachian Trail Conservatory and The Trek. I had no idea that my articles would go viral and inspire many who are in the hiking community to start having conversations on racism within the hiking communities and on the AT specifically.  Since June, I have had several publications, a few collaborations with the Daily Beast and Antiracism as well as being a guest on the She Explores series given by a REI grant. I never knew that my writing would ever take me this far and now I am on a mission to be the second Black woman and first Gay Black woman to achieve a Triple Crown (PCT, AT, CDT).  I have found my home in nature and hiking after being a Social worker and working with animals for so many years. I realized that my life is not meant to live behind walls. I will embark on my AT journey in the winter of 21 and I cannot do it without your help. I am currently a writer for GGG and I drive for Instacart!

I will need assistance with personal security measures such as a Garmin membership. Hostels, resupply on the trail, and in case of emergencies are other places that the funds will be used

With help from the ATC,  my gear sponsors, working my ass off and your support we can help make my dreams a reality. These funds will strictly be used during my thru-hike for hostels, resupply, shuttles, first-aid, and emergencies.  I am truly and forever grateful for your help and may the Nature Gods bless you as I have been blessed!
