UPDATE FROM CHRISTINE 7/16/20

Tourterelle Friends & Supporters,

These past few weeks have been challenging and we will probably never forget that early morning phone call on June 19th, 2020.  The re-construction and restoration of Tourterelle will take at least 10 months. It does feel like we are starting from scratch.  We are planning and will work very hard at returning and being ready to serve you by May 1st , 2021 (if not sooner).

Bill, the kids and I have been truly overwhelmed by everyone's kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity.
Our hearts are filled with deep gratitude- Tourterelle wouldn't exist without you all.   We want to thank you and we will keep you all posted on the re-building progress through our social media outlets and website.
We can't wait to have you back dining at Tourterelle.

With so much love & gratitude,

Christine, Bill, Kamille, Juliette & Jacques Snell

"Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom"          Proust

UPDATE 7/7/20:  WOW!
The campaign hit its original goal within eight days of launching.  It speaks to the love and community of the people who know the Snells and have visited Tourterelle over the past 11 years.

From Christine:  "I can't believe how generous people have been through this GoFundMe Campaign. We are absolutely blown away and speechless by so much kindness and generosity, we have no idea how to begin to even say thank you."

We will keep this campaign live for another week or so. The rebuilding will take 6-9 months and although there will be some insurance coverage for a big part of it, there will definitely be a need to help complete the work.

If you know of anyone who may still want to donate, please share.  And thank you, thank you for helping to show the love for this wonderful family.

UPDATE 6/29/20
:   Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to this fundraiser so far!!  The Snells are so incredibly grateful and deeply touched by the show of support for their family and their rebuilding efforts.

We are only about $3,000 away from the original goal and it has been less than a week since we started this campaign.  Now that the dust is settling somewhat, it is clear that these monies will go a very long way to helping Tourterelle during the months ahead as they put their lives and restaurant back together.  Based on the response from the community and the ongoing financial strain of this unfortunate event, we plan to keep the fundraiser live for a few more weeks to allow those just learning of this opportunity to donate to this effort.

This last week has been a testament to how much Bill and Christine are loved by so many and we can all take pride in knowing how much our support will provide them with our community strength and spirit throughout the months ahead.

Please share this link with anyone you think who may still want to donate.  Thank you all!!

June 22, 2020:  On Friday morning, June 19, a fire started in the kitchen of Tourterelle, causing severe damage to the original 224-year-old building including smoke and structural damage.

Owned and operated for the last 11 years by Bill and Christine Snell, Tourterelle and the Snell family have been a foundation of our community.  They  have hosted our families for special events of all kinds, our community fundraising events, music nights, weddings, family birthday celebrations,  special gatherings of friends and family and all with their warmth, kindness and unparalleled service and food.

We have all experienced the grace and generosity of the Snells over these past many years and we would like to help their family recover from this setback during this very challenging time.

We are raising  money to help  Bill and Christine while they rebuild their restaurant and inn.  The money from this fundraiser will go directly to them  for whatever they need in order to get Tourterelle up and running once again.

We want to show the Snells how much we appreciate having them in our community and to return some of their kindness and generosity.   Please share this fundraiser with anyone you know who would like to contribute.

Thank you!!!
