Our Story
El Perol Restaurant is a family-owned business in San Rafael, California that has operated for the last 20 years. The restaurant, opened and run by Gustavo and Nancy Ortega, has happily been serving the Bay Area generous portions of delicious homemade Peruvian dishes made lovingly from scratch with the freshest ingredients.
Previously located in San Francisco, although forced to move due to a fire that condemned the whole building, the Ortega family were fortunate enough to open back up in San Rafael from December 2016 and has been grateful in serving the Marin County since then.
Our campaign
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, like all small businesses, the restaurant was greatly impacted from the resulting financial hardships. We have remained open for takeout to support our employees and their income during this time, and have leveraged assistance from the government which has helped us keep our staff on board. Unfortunately, this was not enough for us to cover the other piling expenses to run the restaurant. We are now reaching out to the community and customer base all over the Bay Area and around the world for help during these hard times, to continue serving their delicious dishes to our dear customers in Marin County. We are grateful to our community and we deeply appreciate your support as we continue to serve you.

El restaurante “El Perol” es un pequeño negocio familiar que desde Diciembre del 2016, esta funcionando en la Ciudad de San Rafael, California. Dirigido por los hermanos Gustavo y Nancy Ortega, el restaurante viene sirviendo al “Área de la Bahia” deliciosos platos peruanos al estilo “hecho en casa”.
Nancy Ortega inició el negocio hace 20 años en el Distrito de la Misión en San Francisco, a causa de un incendio que destruyó el edificio por completo, el negocio cerró sus puertas por unos años.
Afortunadamente, hace 4 años los hermanos Ortega lograron abrir el restaurante nuevamente en el condado de Marín.
Nuestra Campaña
A causa de la pandemia del coronavirus y como ha ocurrido en otros negocios pequeños, “El Perol” ha sido fuertemente impactado en la parte financiera y cumpliendo con leyes tuvo que cerrar sus puertas por 2 semanas, para luego abrir en forma parcial con horas reducidas y menos empleados (debido a las restricciones como el distanciamiento social), y tomando órdenes “sólo para llevar”. Las ventas bajaron en más de un 80%, para mantener a algunos de nuestros empleados utilizamos nuestras reservas mientras recibiamos la ayuda del gobierno que llegó 2 meses después, esta ayuda del estado está cubriendo los salarios de los empleados, pero no es suficiente para cubrir otros gastos acumulados en estos meses que el restaurante no ha estado funcionando al 100 %.
Por estas razones estamos acudiendo a la comunidad y a nuestros leales clientes que visitan “El Perol”y disfrutan de nuestra deliciosa comida peruana, su cooperación para mantener “El Perol” restaurante abierto.
