Help Jocy Move!

Donation protected

Hi there!

My name is Jocelyn, Jocy for short. I am a Disabled creator on social media. Through my platforms, I not only share external resources but I educate, speak, and create on disability, ableism, and the intersections. I dress up too! My upbringing as a Disabled Mexican-American woman of color informs my intersectional perspective on top of my years in advocacy.

I was crowdfunding for a wheelchair accessible van as I wanted to be able to leave my house and gain independence. However, I have decided to change my goal to 'Moving Out' instead. The reasons I have decided to change my goals to "moving out" instead of buying a wheelchair accessible van is mainly because of the time it would take to save to buy a wheelchair accessible van, get consultations, have it adapted to me, and learning how to drive. At this time, I am really prioritizing just moving into an area that is as accessible as it can be to me.

My plan with moving out is to move to a city or town that is more accessible than where I currently live. My main goal is go to a place where I can access transportation, personal/career growth, caregivers, and disability resources.

Since I wasn't able to get any experience in my degree, I have decided to pursue the one thing I kept constant during my educational career— Social Media. I have years of experience in social media and photo/video production. I decided that I'll be applying to media companies in the spring. On top of this, during my years at home I've also gotten real modeling opportunities, I'd like to explore that. I am under management, but none of the opportunities I'm currently getting are where I live. I feel like I have to try this, and I really appreciate any and all support I can get.

This support will go towards me moving out from being housebound! In order for me to be able to support myself, I really need to move to a place where I can find community and have access to career growth/opportunity. I'm saving up on my own as well, but this will help me for the first few months plus caregiving as I start the application process for care and transportation services which takes awhile. My hope is that having this assistance will give me the time I need to apply for state resources like caregiving support and getting registered with disability services like para-transit. It will also allow me to focus on finding part-time work and creating content during the the time of applications for media companies. I want to be absolutely certain that when I move I'm not without.

I am just asking for any donations/payments for my work to go to something that could help me gain independence later on. Any amount is greatly appreciated and sharing truly means a lot.

If you’d like to hire me for any consultations, lectures, panels, trainings, organizing, speakings, lectures, or even sponsorships, feel free to reach out to me through my website or on any of my platforms.

I appreciate you all!
