Glimmer of Hope Project
Donation protected
The Glimmer of Hope Project by the Art Shine Foundation (ASF), which is a youth-led nonprofit, is an initiative aiming to deliver care packages and motivational artwork to seniors in need. All proceeds will be used in order to purchase PPE and other nursing home essentials to protect the elderly community.
With almost 45% of covid deaths occurring in nursing homes, isolation, loneliness, and fear is paramount in the almost 2.1 million people living in these facilities. The senior population is extremely vulnerable, both to the virus, and the mental health challenges and trauma that come from not being able to see their loved ones. Additionally, seniors are more susceptible to the virus because of heart disease, cancer, and other illnesses. Because of the anxiety and sadness that the elderly face right now, it is imperative for them to feel a level of connection to the outside world.
The Glimmer of Hope project aims to do just this by collecting artwork and donations in order to support these vulnerable populations. Our mission is to spark a sense of hope and togetherness amongst nursing home residents by letting them know that someone is out there thinking about them.
Donations to this GoFundMe will go towards purchasing N-95 masks and putting together care packages that contain basic necessities curated for nursing home needs. A donation of just $10 can make a care package consisting of a mask, hand sanitizer, toiletries, cough drops, band-aids, and gloves! Many nursing homes do not have the funds to purchase PPE essential to the well-being of their residents, as they are under supplied. Therefore, we are trying to help ease the struggles these facilities are facing through your donations. We will be supporting almost 500 senior residents across 5 states in the US through this project.
Though they are not directly related to us, the seniors we are supporting are symbolic of our grandparents, people who we love and care about. Your donations will help us support this vulnerable population during such an uncertain time!
To help, please donate to this GoFundMe and share this through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or other social media platforms!
