Support In Harmony Music of MidTN Services

Donation protected
Hello Everybody! I’m Carrie Friddell, MT-BC. Owner of In Harmony Music of Middle Tennessee. I have been a nationally Board Certified Music Therapist since 2005 and have been practicing Music Therapy since 2006.

In Harmony Music of Middle Tennessee helps children and adults enhance and strengthen their communication, social, and physical skills through active music making experiences.  Music is used to facilitate personal growth through an enjoyable therapeutic outlet.

Over the years, I have witnessed the power of music to help support children and adults.  Music has shown to support brain development, physical coordination, boost attention, help with executive functioning, support social skills, language development and mental health.  I have seen this first hand when a child with intellectual disabilities comes into the music session and asks for her favorite song.  Also, when a youth with autism who has previously had trouble socializing with others, comes in to a group session and greats his friends right away excited to make music together.  Yet, the year 2020, has brought some new challenges for the folks I see in my practice.

I gratefully ask for your support, no matter how small the donation, to help keep the mission of In Harmony Music of Middle Tennessee going.  Many small, women-owned business have and will be closing their doors in the wake of COVID-19 health and economic crisis.  GoFundMe has a matching donation program that can help small business owners, like me. The purpose of this GoFund Me Project is to off set costs lost due to COVID-19 and to continue music therapy services that were halted in March 2020 when the nation went on quarantine.

My hope is to continue to provide ongoing group services for children and youth by offering scholarships to families in need.  Some families have lost jobs during the COVID-19 health crisis and cannot afford music therapy services.  Many of these children are socially isolated and depend on a steady realm of social support including therapy and education.  Previously, Music Therapy, was one of the “bright spots” in their weeks.  It was something to look forward to and something they could engage in together with, me as music therapist, and / or their peers.

Please consider a donation, in any amount,  to help these children and youth to have access to high quality music therapy services through In Harmony Music of Middle Tennessee.  All group sessions will take place over teletherapy since Middle Tennessee is still showing a high number of people still testing positive for COVID-19 but we hope to be back together over the next year of 2021 as we look forward to vaccine options and the slow of the spread.  Continued weekly participation in music therapy will help support their overall learning.

By helping In Harmony Music of Middle Tennessee reach it’s $500 goal, you will be supporting a place that serves children and youth in their overall growth and development through the power of music.  GoFundMe’s #SmallBusinessRelief Fund will match the gift of $500 once this campaign meets it’s mark.

Please know that all funding raised through this GoFundMe campaign will be used strictly for expenses providing ongoing music therapy services through 2021 with children and youth who have special needs.  In Harmony Music of Middle Tennessee is too small to qualify for the SBA Payroll Protection Program. GoFundMe is one of the few resources offering matching funds to small business owners, like myself, who are falling through the cracks of government assistance programs for small businesses.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support of the great impact that the work of In Harmony Music of Middle Tennessee has had on children, youth, adults and their families and caregivers over the years!  During this time, it is more important than ever to keep the music going together!

Sincerely,

Carrie Friddell, MT-BC
