Dunk For Cancer

Is it remotely possible that a 48 year old, 6 foot basketball coach (Kris Barnes) can train to dunk a basketball in the name of raising awareness and funding for the Cancer Council of Australia?   Currently in Kris’s two teams, a number of families are dealing with or have delt with serious cancer. The Volume 1 video (link attached) marks his progress after 2 weeks of training. Kris has gone from not being able to touch the ring and having no hops to attempting his first dunk with a tennis ball!! (Edit Vol 2 and other progress videos have since been uploaded).

This is all despite some serious player doubt and talk of Kris breaking his hip. In association with another smaller 5”9’ basketballer Chris Ivison, they will both work together to raise $4000 for the Cancer Council of Australia. Already $3,500 has been raised! Just as importantly, the journey has had a positive influence on the players, families and other sporting teams.

The final dunk attempt of a size 7 basketball is expected in early December.

Enjoy the videos, the torn muscles, complaining and the progress.
