Give Hope to Kenyan Disabled Children During COVID

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

Each and every one of us has felt the impact of Coronavirus. Every place where we work and every person we work with has been affected, and this crisis is far from over.

That is why Foundation for Tomorrow (F4T), a nonprofit organization recognized in Kenya, Africa, is sending out an appeal for financial support so that we scale up our responses and protect the people who need it most. Foundation for Tomorrow (F4T) is a public benefit organization/charity registered under the Societies Act, laws of Kenya. We exist to address the plight of children/persons with special needs who have little or no access to basic needs like specialized medical care, education, food, shelter etc. More than 10% of Kenya's population consists of persons with disability who are excluded from social, economic and political development of the country. Poverty, discrimination and stigma are among the common challenges faced by people with special needs in Kenya. Because of traditional beliefs and lack of knowledge about some of the rare conditions like cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome etc mothers of children with such conditions are abandoned by their spouses.

The Foundation's focus is to create awareness among the general public as well as provide rehabilitation services like therapy to the afflicted and affected. We are also involved in advocacy campaigns to create legal framework to guarantee the welfare of persons with disability in Kenya. Over 250 persons with special needs are direct beneficiaries of this initiative.

As the Coronavirus pandemic spreads, sections of the most vulnerable people on earth are more at risk than ever. The Foundation has identified 69 very need families of children with special needs who urgently need help. The parents of such children were doing odd jobs on farms and in the homes of the well-to-do. Because of the government containment measures to curb the spread of Corona virus, these vulnerable families face a risk dying of hunger.

We are seeking financial support to supply life saving items like food, medicines, hygiene products, clean water etc.  These families live in 8 feet by 8 feet homes made of scrap metal and wood. In addition to their vulnerable condition, all of these families have children with disabilities. $20 will help us supply a family with basic food packages and other necessities for one week. One week supplies to a typical family would be budgeted as follows:

2 litres of cooking oil at 3 USD
4kg of baking flour at 2.8 USD
4kg of maize flour at 2.5 USD
soap at 2 USD
40 litres of drinking water at 1 USD
Sanitizers at 2.5 USD
Face masks at 2 USD
4kg of rice at 6 USD
4kg of beans at 4 USD

Please donate NOW – any amount can save lives.

Your gift today will enable our local community volunteers to reach those that need it most. They are providing information on how to slow the virus, hygiene supplies and emergency food packages for families with disabled children who face hunger as a result of lockdown and job losses.

We must not let the most vulnerable be forgotten. Please continue to pray for every one affected by this terrible crisis both near and far away.

Thank you for anything you are able to give.
