Who?

My name is Tori Moten and I currently run a youth basketball organization in Maryland.  It has been my pleasure to coach and mentor boys and girls over the past 20 years.  I proudly grew up in Lincoln Park, a predominately black  community in Rockville, MD and worked hard to overcome the stereotypes and limitations of that neighborhood. 

Why?

Our Mission is to share in a players experience, helping their reach their full potential. We also want to foster
independence, being productive and  having a positive attitude.  We want to help to connect their visual, auditory and tactile sensory skills on and off the court.  In my experience, I have noticed that players often lack basic fundamentals, team concepts, game strategies and the confidence to be successful.

What I also found, as a black female coach, was the disparity between male and female coaches in youth sports, bias treatment and little respect from opposing male coaches/referees when the scoreboard reflected a win for my boys teams.  I have encountered a misplaced emphasis on the flash, the scoreboard and a disregard for overall sportsmanship. This is why my organization, M.A.D.E Team Sports Incorporated, has remained in a league of it's own over the past 10 years. The M.A.D.E. 2 Perform Basketball Teaching Facility will be an extension of our motto "My Attitude Determines Everything".  We aim to teach, not preach and seek to provide players of all skill levels with the tools to be the best version of themselves.

About 8 years ago, I coined the phrase "Don't Wait, Create" when I started looking for my first facility.  The journey has been long  and I've learned lessons and overcome obstacles  along the way.  The time has finally arrived - NO more waiting and I'm excited to partner with all of you in the coming months to create a top notch teaching basketball facility.

What?

Our vision for the M.A.D.E. 2 Perform basketball teaching facility is to offer programs to enhance a players confidence level,  increase decision making abilities, strengthen their foundational base, shooting mechanics, 50/50 principles and team concepts.

Further, and in response to the needs of our community in regards to Covid-19 (and on-going virtual school learning), we will offer an on-site learning environment to a limited numbers of players. We will also offer comprehensive player evaluations.  We also seek to be a place that outside trainers (background checked) can work-out with their players.

When?

We will be opening our 2,094 Sq. Ft.  M.A.D.E. 2 Perform Basketball Teaching Facility in Rockville,  January 1st, 2021.   All of the financial contributions will go towards bathrooms, ventilation, hoops, flooring, installation, technology, safety precautions, security and much more...

The goal is to raise $70,000.  In fact, we have reached $47,000 to date! Permit issued and construction begins December 4th.  $23,000 more!!!
