Hello to our friends, supporters, local diners and visitors!
The auspicious date of January 6th marks our two-year anniversary.
Opening the café has been an incredible learning experience with many challenges and rewards. I must thank my capable, fantastic staff, that have helped me every day, to provide delicious, healthy, hot food and bakery goods that we are known for throughout Northern NM.

Since my opening day, I have continued to make positive changes, addressing problems as they arise while working 12 hours a day, six days a week, to keep the bills paid.
At the beginning of this project, I did not realize that the pandemic would last as long as it has. I also did not expect that food, propane, utilities and delivery costs would go up in price at the level that they have. I am no quitter, and I will do everything I can to keep the rent paid and the doors open to the Abiquiu community, and our many diverse visitors.
I have realized that I have partly filled the void left by the closing of the Flourchild's Bakery, which was located where Café Sierra Negra now resides. One-third of our business is bakery goods, all made from scratch, which brings me to the ask I am making now for donations.
I have the opportunity to bring in a renowned baker to provide the best sourdough bread and baguettes. To complete this task, I hope to purchase a specialty oven. The particular oven that I would like to acquire is a RackMaster RM2020 Brick oven that is built to provide just the right conditions for excellent bread. It is compact and would fit into my already tight workspace. I have looked into business loans and realize that I can not take on the extra burden of monthly payments with high interest.
Adding fresh baked bread will enhance our menu and will allow the local community to purchase loaves to take home.
