Help us survive to reach our 50th year

Established in 1972, The Manor School of Ballet is Edinburgh's longest running dance school and we are due to celebrate 50 years of dance education in 2022.

Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, like many other small businesses our future is now facing great uncertainty.

Our industry and our profession of which we are deeply passionate about was one of the first to face closure and sadly it has been one of the last to re-open.

At this time, we know that we cannot operate from any of our branch schools for the foreseeable future and this has already created significant losses in our number of pupils.  Our intention for the immediate future is to try and re-open our Main School building at Hampton Terrace on what will be a long road to recovery.

We were anticipating that the government guidance and safety procedures would inevitably require us to make further sacrifices to the number of pupils that we can effectively teach.  This has been the case and the projected overheads and running costs which are now necessary to ensure we can operate safely, potentially could seal our fate in this new world where our normal avenues of income and traditional fundraising have been devastated.

For the past 48 years, The Manor School of Ballet has been committed to providing the highest possible standards of training in performing arts throughout Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders.  Our passionate team are now equally committed in doing whatever they possibly can to save Edinburgh's oldest dance school and go beyond its 50th anniversary.

If you are a former pupil, member of staff, parent, guardian, associate, supplier, volunteer, friend or just a member of the public who shares in our passion and who cares deeply about the health and wellbeing of the young people that we teach and you would like to support us, we would graciously accept your kind support at this critical time.

Our school tagline is 'Inspired by our past, excited by our future'.  At this point, the latter is something we very much hope to revive and each new day brings fresh hope.  We know that our journey to recovery must begin with a single step.

Let’s get dancing!

Thank you for your support.
