WHY WE ARE FUNDRAISING...

You've been waiting and now...

We're happy to announce that "The Philadelphia Art & Urban Literary" is back, but we could use your help!

"The PAUL Review" is a free online Arts and Literary magazine created out of the commitment to support artists whose works demonstrate direct responses to our times. Since April 2017, PAUL has been Philadelphia's leading arts & literary magazine supporting all artists and has become a distinct forum for artists of color. With a mix of artists interviews, paintings, photography and short stories, PAUL provides a platform for all artists and organizations to collaborate with one another on new and innovative projects.  PAUL promotes the works of both established and up-and-coming, visual artists and writers. The Philadelphia Art & Urban Literary Review brings creative voices to diverse new audiences.

As the Founder, Curator and Design Editor of PAUL, I have self-funded the production of the magazine since its inception. Expenses primarily included a small office/studio space optimized for artists interviews, photo shoots and overall magazine layout design production. Prior to our worldwide pandemic, self-funding the magazine became tough. Financial challenges led us to have to move out of the small office/studio space rented to produce PAUL. It was an inspiring studio-office optimized for interviews and photo shoots. It was the space where great ideas for PAUL magazine had been born, developed and flourished! With plans to jump-start The PAUL Review again in April 2020, things became even more uncertain as we encountered the worldwide pandemic.

But, here's some good news...
After applying for a writers grant, fortunately this year, "The PAUL Review" received a promising seed grant of $1000. from the Philadelphia Writers Emergency Fund. The grant is being used to help jump-start our Fall/Winter issues!

And, here's more good news...
While on hiatus, PAUL magazine has been on the forefront of creating new opportunities for artists. PAUL's newest initiative is its Media Arts on Screens Program. The PAUL Review has partnered with organizations such as Intersection Media to get artists exhibiting on 15 public, LINK Kiosk screens around Philadelphia! These exhibits are new for our City and offer artists a unique exhibition opportunity during a time where social-distancing is imperative.

By utilizing newly developed empty commercial spaces in Center City Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Art & Urban Literary has most recently partnered with National Real Estate Advisors to create effective, safe, exhibit opportunities for artists during the pandemic. Artists are now exhibiting works in windows of downtown Philadelphia spaces.

As Founder of The PAUL Review, I've had to wear many hats, working as curator, content creator,  commentator, interviewer, editor, photographer, layout designer and writer.  For our newly structured "PAUL Review", we will partner with content-creators such as photographers, guests-commentators and editors to develop compelling content for readers like you! Moving forward also involves additional funding to help pay guests commentators, interviewers and photographers for their contributions.

To support the exciting re-birth and relaunch of PAUL,
here is how you can help:

To help support the exciting relaunch of PAUL, we are beginning with our very first fundraiser here at Gofundme.  The Philadelphia Art & Urban Literary Review will relaunch with two exciting new issues on both Oct. 19th and December 18th.  Please consider donating to PAUL as we build this historic publication.

To express our gratitude, PAUL will publish a special "Donor Wall" page in the upcoming Oct.19th issue! Your name will be included on the "Donor Wall"  no matter the amount of your contribution. A pre-order of the October issue of "The PAUL Review" is included in your donation of $50.00 or more! Estimated arrival of "The PAUL Review" to your home or office is Friday, Oct. 30th.

Any and all support of The Philadelphia Art & Urban Literary is deeply honored and appreciated! In the meantime, Take a look at this past issue!
