The Connection Project 2020

“At one point, I was in so much pain, taking my own life seemed like the only solution. The feelings of despair and helplessness became overwhelming. I could not voice the words...I need help.”  Emily Olsen

Hi everyone, this year we are hosting our third annual Connection Project storytelling event. Pre COVID, this project was supported by individuals, local business, and organizations as well as ticket sales. This year, we are all in a different place, and since we cannot gather together in the same way, there will be no ticket sales. So, we are fundraising to support the amazing people who are courageously going to bless the stage next month and share their very personal mental health journeys.

Storytelling is a powerful tool for connection and healing.  By speaking their truth, we hope collectively to reduce the stigma and normalize the mental health experiences many people face.  COVID 19 has shone an even brighter light on those facing these challenges and now more than ever, these stories want to be told and need to be heard.

Most of us know someone and many of us love someone who struggles with mental health challenges, whose life is diminished by suffering, and for whom a connection to someone else is what holds them up and softens their fall.  We need each other, and this year, we need you.

It is so important to make meaningful connections as we navigate the ups and downs of our lives, especially during these times.  Because mental health challenges are isolating in nature and in many cases, unseen in others, this project advances this important conversation to ensure the subject of wellbeing is not overlooked. As we face this global pandemic together, we need to stay connected, to love one another with a deeper sense of compassion, and to find ways to hear each other's stories without judgment.

We are grateful for all donations to this year’s Connection Project and invite you to please join us for our free live-streamed event on Thursday October 22nd at 7pm.
