Brandon's Watches for the Homeless

Brandon Nordike had been homeless in Austin for several months, and with no watch and a phone that could barely hold a charge, he was often unsure about what time or even what day it was. That all changed when he received a watch! Once he knew the time he was better able to plan out when to take the bus to the various resources available to the homeless around the city. Additionally, the watch helped him make his job interview which led to him being hired at a local window sales company. Brandon is no longer on the streets thanks to his job, but he has not forgotten his fellow Austinites who are still experiencing homelessness. He recently helped distribute a handful of watches to some homeless Austinites and received very positive feedback. One gentleman remarked that the watches would help him get to appointments with his social worker on time. Another gentleman mentioned how he used his watch to not miss the window for the free lunch offered at a local soup kitchen and one of the women shared that she was just grateful to finally know what day and time it was. Brandon is now hoping to distribute even more watches for the homeless population this holiday and needs your help. Many homeless want to be able to work and need a hand-up, not a handout.
