This project was developed by two social work students who saw a need for connectivity amongst seniors in isolation, especially during this precarious time of COVID-19.
The goal is to be able to provide seniors, in residences, with technology that will allow them to connect with their loved ones.
The funds will be used to purchase tablets. The goal is to collect enough money to be able to purchase six tablets per residence with a total of two residences. We will reach out to non-private residences and request information from the staff regarding who would benefit most from a tablet. There will be five tablets given to the chosen residents and one tablet that will remain a “floater.” This tablet will be used by staff for whichever residents wish to use it, but who may not have the capabilities of using it independently. We wish to attain the goal for the 25th of December 2020. This would be a nice gift to receive and in perfect time for the holidays. If we do not reach our goal by then, we do not want to limit ourselves, therefore we will leave the account open until the new year (end of January 2021). If we do not raise enough money to purchase at least six tablets, we will send out a poll through our Instagram and donate the money to a residence that could really benefit from this donation. With that being said, all extra donations will be donated in the same manner, by an Instagram poll.
This project was mainly created because we saw first-hand, through our grandparents and great grandparents, the increasing amount of isolation seniors are facing in residences in and around Montreal. We really hope that this project can be a success. This success would begin with you, no matter how little or small the donations are, it’s a contribution and that’s what we are hoping for. We would be beyond ecstatic if this project could reach its goal. Lastly, we would like to thank everyone who has participated in this project, either through donating or by sharing our page.
