Earth First! Journal Office Fund
Hi all! *please add a comment if the donation is for the BIPOC writer fund*
If you've been following us on social media, met us at the EF! Summer Gathering in June (in solidarity with Stop Line 3 camps), or reading the 40th Anniversary Special Issue we produced this summer, you know that the Journal has been on a slow path to recovery after a traumatic 2020. We moved out of the collective home office in Grants Pass amid wildfires and much-needed racial justice uprising, a global pandemic, and also a lot of personal burnout. The business relocated to so-called Kansas City, Missouri to find temporary footing, and now we are planning to stay here for awhile--and we are bringing back the quarterly monkeywrenching magazine you all know and love best!
In order to do that, we need to rent an office space. It's really that simple. After two recovery-oriented workshops at EF! gatherings this year, we have also committed to paying staff a living wage (!) and collecting donations for a BIPOC writer's fund so that we can support a reparations-based model of compensation for our Black and Indigenous comrades and all people of color when they write for the Journal. These costs are ambitious, but achievable with your help.
EXPENSES:
$468/month for an office
$30-60 for each piece by BIPOC writers
$15/hour for two staff members
We need to secure both a space and these salaries if we want to transform the Earth First! Journal into the kind of radical, independent media we want to see in the world, and keep it going for another 40 years.
**If you do not agree with the % that GFM takes out of your donation to us, please send your check or cash donations directly to PO Box 411892, Kansas City, MO 64141. You can also Venmo @KVEF785 due to our recent account suspensions (no PayPal or Venmo at this time).
As always, we are so grateful for your generosity in helping us achieve our mission of supporting and reporting on worldwide biocentric direct action in defense of the earth. Please follow us on Instagram @earthfirstjournal, or find us on Facebook for more regular updates.
As always--For the wild!!
