Young Visions is a Social Enterprise and Fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs, with aims to better engage young people in their learning using 360° Virtual Reality and other immersive technologies. Pre-Covid we were focussed on delivering VR360° workshops for PSHE Education topics including mental health, knife crime and homelessness. Today we are also focussed on equipping teachers and practitioners with additional resources to better engage young people in their learning at home and at school.
Our founder Steve Hutson (creator of this crowd funder) is a former, homeless, heroin addict. At 16 I was sleeping rough on the streets and heavily addicted to Class A drugs. I was also diagnosed with ADHD very young and was excluded or expelled from 6 schools. I'm now a level 3 qualified youth worker and on this mission to help young people and teaching staff. I was unable to focus very well at school and felt that schools were not set up for people who found it hard to engage with the normal delivery methods of teaching. Whilst education settings have become better at this, there is still much that we can do.
We understand that there are many different learning styles, and one size most definitely does not fit all. That's why we have a dream to include fully-immersive learning suites on every education site in the UK and around the world. We believe that VR & Immersive Technology is the strongest medium yet to offer young people an immersive, engaging and interactive, enhanced learning experience.
We are seeking funds to help us extend our website domain and email server licenses due to expire in May 2021. We will also use the funds raised to purchase a multi-year license for the software we use to develop our new products. We will use the funds raised to advertise and promote all of our services in an extended advertising campaign (including direct and digital marketing and using Young Visions own unique and innovative ideas). And we will enhance our research capabilities by ensuring we can recruit a high-quality, experienced university researcher into 2022.
We are proud and delighted to have been supported in our research and development efforts so far by the University of Bristol; Bristol VR Lab; the School for Social Entrepreneurs; Brewin Dolphin; The Prince's Trust; Network for Creative Enterprise; and the Emmaus Business Incubator.
Young Visions, and indeed Steve Hutson have come along way in the last 3 years, and we have already achieved so much. Now we need your support to travel further.
Finally we would like to extend, in advance, our deepest gratitude for your donations and pledge to use the funds to improve the experience of learning for children and young people; along with easing the planning and delivery burden for teachers and practitioners.
We have an information booklet with more details on all our existing products available on request. To any large donor (above £1,000) we will also pledge to open up our financial records so you can see how we are progressing. This will likely be via a bespoke financial report.
