HELP TO PAY RESCUE DOG VET BILLS

We started this year with an emergency after another. Aura, a puppy of three months, who we just rescued some days before new year from the pound was admitted to the vet after having diarrhoea. We already though the worst and unfortunately the vet confirmed it. It was Parvo. She spent some very difficult days at the vet and we were praying for this little fighter and luckily she was strong enough to made it through. It was a great relief when she was allowed to go back to the boarding kennel and she started to play with the others.
But this incident seemed just to be the beginning. The worst happened yesterday when we had to say goodbye to George. George was a dog of 11 years who belonged to the dogs which were the longest in the pound...over 5 years. George was going to be fostered last year in December, but unfortunately it didn't work out as his place was taken by Fizz, an epileptic dog which we brought back from UK, and which at that time was a more urgent case. Fosters are in this region like finding a needle in the haystack, that's why we had no other option than to leave George at the pound. Last week a family member of one of the volunteers of Telum'as Dream was in the position to foster and therefore the decision was taken that this was going to be George chance. Unfortunately they weren't able to pick him up by themselves as because of the lockdown they weren't allowed to travel out of their region (the pound is about 100km away). We therefore had to wait till this Thursday as it's when a transport was going to the pound to pick up a different dog and so we took advantage of it to bring George into foster care. But apart of George also Martina was taken out of the pound. We were made aware of Martina just one day before transport, as it's when the worker of the pound send us some pictures and videos of her. Martina is a granny of 10 years. When we saw the videos we directly saw that something was wrong with her. Apart of having super lot of overweight, she was limping with her back leg in a very painful way to see. The worker of the pound wasn't able to say us what she had, as apart of putting injections or give antibiotics there is no other vet care which the dogs receive in the pound. To see Martina in these conditions and not knowing what she was having or if she was suffering was unbearable for us, but thankfully the foster of George also offered to foster Martina so both were able to leave the pound on Thursday and it then when the worst part started. After being picked up and on their way to foster the worker of the pound called us saying that George doesn't move and that the transporter had to carry him into the van....a dog of over 40kg. We thought it's maybe because he is scared as the day before he was completely fine (at least that's what we were told, as unfortunately because of the lockdown, we aren't able to visit the pound and see how the dogs are by ourselves) . When the transporter arrived at the foster home, George still didn't move a cm and they had to carry him...they weren't able to carry him upstairs into the house and had to leave him in the porche. There he was lying without any reaction and with a wound on his elbow. He neither was able to lift his head. When his foster tried to give him to drink, he only took his tongue out. It was a very shocking situation for his foster. We tried like desperate to find a vet who would do a house visit, as the foster weren't able to lift him up to take him to the vet, but the only answer we were given was: "We don't do home visits" or "Yes, we can do an appointment in 2 or 3 days". This wasn't an option for us but we were running out of options, especially with all these lowdown restrictions put in place. Finally and after a lot of calls our saviour was Bea, with whose help George was able to get to the vet. She also was overwhelmed about George situations and the vet confirmed the bad situation after a first check up. George was swollen, his gum was swollen, he had fever of 41 and his heart rate was slowly...he was like in coma. We were shocked and crying....we didn't understand anything...we were told that the day before he was perfect and on the day he lefts the the pound to go into a home environment he arrives like dead at his foster. The vet kept George over night and started to do blood analysis and anything that was needed to find out was was going on with him. We all spent a horrible night. On the next day we were informed that George was stable and that he even was standing, which was a good sign and gave us hope. In the afternoon the vet was going to have all results and be able to tell us what was the problem. In the afternoon Bea went back to the vet with Martina, to get her x-rays done and also to find out what was going on with George and what the vet told us was devastating. George had a 5x6 big pancreas tumor and without saying it loud we all knew what that meant. Everybody who lost a beloved one knows how we feel. But what is more painful for is not having been able to stop his suffering earlier...the vet told us that this deterioration doesn't happen from one day to another... George must have been in awful pain much earlier and it's incomprehensible for us how something like that could be overlooked. RIP George.
Because of this horrible start in 2021 we have accumulated so far vet bills of 1600,- €. This, in combination that we still have 7 dogs in a boarding kennel with monthly expenses and that we aren't able to rehome dogs from Spain to the UK, because of the new requirements which came up with Brexit, causes us a huge debt which we aren't able to cover.
We wouldn’t be asking for your support if it wasn’t strictly necessary. The expenses are outgrowing and we are really desperate for funds to pay off the vet bills for this year. For the moment we also aren't able to continue to rescue
dogs in need until our bills are cleared as it just wouldn't be responsible of us to take in dogs knowing how serious our lack of funding is.
We know that this current situation with COVID is making it difficult for everyone. But if anyone does have a few pounds (there is no small amount) spare to help it would be very much appreciated.
