Beyond Resolved GA Spring Fundraiser

Beyond Resolved is a student run non-profit organization that advocates for all marginalized groups in high school speech and debate by raising awareness of often overlooked disparities, creating inclusive spaces, and building resources for the debate community (www.beyond-resolved.org). Examples of marginalized groups may include gender minorities. In "An Empirical Study of Gender Differences in Competitive High School Debate", Angela Yi and Alyssa Nie find that female-female teams are 17.1% less likely to win rounds against male-male teams. Moreover, debate also has very prominent wealth disparities, as attending tournaments, hiring coaches, and purchasing formal clothing can be very costly. 

Georgia Beyond Resolved is one specific chapter of the national Beyond Resolved organization. GA Beyond Resolved will use the acquired funds to address wealth disparities in the debate space in several ways, which are outlined below: 
- help students in need pay for their school debate club's membership fees
- assist less fortunate schools hire coaching
- assist less fortunate schools pay for membership fees of organizations such as Georgia Forensics Coaches Association and National Debate Coaches Association
- formal clothing drive
- computer mic and camera drive (for online debate tournaments)
- offer partial scholarships for summer debate camps
