Donations for One Love Sports Academy

My name is Jamaal Wornum and I founded "One Love Sports Academy" as a way to mentor at risk inner city youth and teach valuable life lessons so they can avoid pitfalls and allow a safe space to grow and reach their full potential. In my 10 year experience in this space, sports has been the easiest v ehicle to reach these at risk youth. In the past three years, I've created a summer basketball league that coached and mentored over 125 youth in the city of Boston mainly in the Dorchester area. During the summer we were able to foster new relationships with them that transpired into a year round program. This is very important mainly because the youth of Boston deal with many issues such as violence, murders, drug abuse, and many more

    Now that we are living and surviving in this pandemic the youth have dealt with and lost so much by not being able to live a normal lifestyle. The total number of shootings incresed 29% over the pandemic and the total number of murders increased from 37 to 55 , 29 being in Dorchester which is where we serve the most youth. Most of the youth we serve  arefood deprived and find themselves having no safe space to go during this difficult time. I am asking for donations to cover operational costs from now to Fall 2021. Any opportunity that we have to add some kind of activity or recreation in a safe manner is beneficial for the youth that "One Love" serve. Following all (CDC) protocols we plan to provide basketball tournaments, workouts, health incentives and back to school initiatives. The donations we are asking for will be what spearhead "ONE LOVE" to continue to do good work in the community
