Double ACL Surgery for my Homedog

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Chaun and this is my rock and ESA Cai; he is a pit and boxer mix going on 5 years old. Hes kept me sane during this pandemic and gets me out of bed every morning...like literally he doesn’t like me being in the bed LOL. I got him at 6 months off the Craigslist. He was unwanted and been abused, I could see it in the absence of fur on his back.

His background was not all rainbows and love. He was taken from his mother a little earlier than the rest...this caused behavior issues. He was overwhelming for his first family and their solution...lock him in a room with food and water, (causing separation anxiety) with no interaction or care (he hated pets/rubs). The second family found him like this (and having his brother) could not stand for this now 5 month precious baby dog to be mistreated. From there she planned to raise the two, but he was not like his brother. He was destructive, loud and more than what she could handle so Craigslist he went. And that’s where I came in...I needed something to distract me from school and he needed a loving home.

I got my baby Sept 2016, my last year of college. I saw him, fell in love and took him home the next day, I didn’t care about the assumptions, he needed to be rescued. With half of his fur gone, skin inflamed from fleas, worms and behavior accusations, I was up for the challenge (bruh.....it was an entire challenge but we made it!) Hes always had so much energy and loved to bounce. In Indiana,  he looked forward our 5k run on our favorite trail, and if we didn’t go, OH!! the attitude! Lol

Fast forward to September 2020, he seemed to struggle with our 1.5 mile walks, so to the vet we went. She said it may be his acl but I couldn’t afford the procedures to confirm. We were sent home with medication and things were great. Another month pass, and he’s still not doing 100% but better so I asked for another prescription. But that didn’t change much. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford another month of drugs or vet apt (usually $200) but I knew he needed help. I tried holistic remedies but not much improvement.

January came and our stimulus hit. I got him an appointment to find out BOTH of his acl are torn, done for, fineto, nonexistent (tears) and the vet tells me it could $5,000 each (more tears) it’s so bad that you can hear popping when he walks (all of the tears). He stops at stairs and takes breaks during his potty breaks. Seeing him in pain breaks my heart!

He’s been with me every step of the way and is always my #1 priority. He’s the talk of the town (a.k.a. my apt and convos). He’s sweet and dramatic and will tell you some things lol. Everyone loves him and he only demands rubs when entering his home. He doesn’t deserve this and I blame myself for being brokey broke. I was able to find a hospital with more affordable prices but it’s still more than I can afford. I’m still paying on my myomectomy from 2019 and really can’t afford his double acl surgery. Even though the vet keeps calling him fat, he’s still my precious baby. He’s not my bouncy pit anymore (more like a tap dance) but he can be with a little help. All donations will go towards his surgery in early April. We appreciate any and all donations whether monetary or informative. Thank you.
