309 Punk Project Marathon Fundraiser

**UPDATE FROM 309 PUNK PROJECT HEADQUARTERS**

The 309 Punk Project readjusts its fundraiser to meet a goal of $7000.

Our original intention this fundraiser was to raise money for a 12 month window, but we felt if we did this we'd be fundraising forever. Instead, we've set our sights on raising $7000 to cover operating costs through the summer and fall of 2021 when we'll pick up the fundraising again. Think of NPR or PBS, but much smaller. To help us make this decision, we've been gifted an incredible in-kind donation by Mike Graham of Maggot Sandwich which will help us begin our dream of starting a recording studio in 309 (part of our original goal), and we've found a new revenue stream that will help with our overheard tremendously. All of this combined gives us the ability to readjust our goal to $7000, and (finally) puts us within striking distance of finishing the fundraiser.

As we write this, we're in the anniversary week of when COVID-19 became a reality in all of our lives. Like many organizations starting back in 2020, we had plans that were put on hold. As many of our friends lost their jobs, got sick, and some passed away, we knew that our "new normal" was going to be tough, and we'd have to readjust our strategies moving forward. But we've been so pleased with how much support we've received from the community. Frankly, what we've been able to produce with and for the community during this period has been nothing short of impressive. Check out our annual report at www.309punkmuseum.org to see everything we've done this year alone.

Our community has been our love since the beginning, and 309 is the symbol of this community--not just in Pensacola but across the globe. The DIY community. The artistic community. The punk community. Since its inception, the 309 Punk Project has held many events, hosted numerous benefits, and been the subject of tremendous press coverage. For good reason.

There are very few spaces like 309: part museum, part archive, part community space, part home. Yet, like many artistic and cultural spaces, the COVID-19 pandemic hit us hard. As we've mentioned before, we originally planned to have our first events in April 2020, but everything went on hold during the pandemic. Nonetheless, despite the personal and community hardships, we've continued to host several events and create meaningful change in our community.

This year's marathon fundraiser, now readjusted to get us through the fall, is to help sustain the project’s operating costs for 2021, which include the overhead for the building, maintenance of archival materials, funding of the international artist-in-residence program, and costs for future events.

Our success is your success. Our community is strong. This project is for all of us.

Thank you for your ongoing and continued support.
