All proceeds from the event will be donated to When You Wish Upon A Star granting the wishes of children living with life threatening illness.
Introducing ‘Nottinghamshire's Got Talent’, a live competition to discover some of the best artists, musicians and entertainers in the county and beyond this summer!
Founder Owen Brindley is organising the event starting with online auditions taking place in May 2021 up to the final taking place LIVE Grand Final at Nottingham Metronome on Tuesday 24th August 2021!
Owen says “Nottinghamshire's Got Talent will be the county’s biggest talent competition. We welcome talent from all disciplines, backgrounds and ages. This will be a way of showcasing your skills in a fun and exciting way and also raise money for an incredible charity 'When You Wish Upon A Star". The competition is here to raise you up and give you your chance to shine!"
Owen Brindley, 21 from Bilborough has a disability called Branchio - Oto Renal Syndrome which affects his ears, kidneys and neck. As a child Owen had a dream to become a professional entertainer. With his physical and learning disabilities he thought this dream would never be realised but help came when Nottingham charity 'When You Wish Upon A Star' granted his wish to perform as a Butlins redcoat for a day. This life changing experience led Owen to pursue his calling.
Owen was soon performing on Britains Got Talent and is now a resident DJ presenting two weekly shows, Monday Madness LIVE With DJ Owen, on FMB Radio and Nottinghamshire YMCA Digital on a Thursday on YMCA radio, interviewing and championing hundreds of young performers and musicians a year.
Nottingham City Homes recently nominated Owen for the Innovative Young people of 2020 award prize by the Nottingham Building Society . Also Owen also been nominated for Disability Positive Role Model from National Diversity Awards .
Also, Owen own talent and drive has had him interviewed as a regular guest on the BBC East Midlands News , BBC Radio Nottingham , Notts TV and Nottingham Post .
He most recently inspired and was subsequently hired as a lead mentor for Nottingham record label and NGT consultants Im Not From London 's Be Scene And Heard project, a Youth Music funded free course helping young deaf and hearing participants make music and record music videos.
Owen continues to work tirelessly promoting and supporting the charity that gave him that first break and Nottinghamshire's Got Talent is his way of thanking When You Wish Upon A Star and providing a platform for the wealth of talent, he believes Nottinghamshire undoubtedly has and he hopes the experience will help others realise their dreams as he did.
Sponsorship
We are looking for local businesses to provide prizes for the winners and runners
up and a cash sponsor for the event which will go towards prizes and pay for a
photographer, videographer, sound engineer, lighting engineer, public liabilities
insurance and marketing costs.
In return said sponsors will be mentioned on all promotional material, online and
distributed, as well as being advertised throughout the event by the hosts, the
charity, event partners as well as on event banners and advertisements on social
media, local news outlets and in media interviews (TV, Radio, Newspaper).
Schedule
The NGT research team is currently researching acts and scheduling auditions.
Auditions will take place online via virtual platform from May - June 2021
Events will take place at Nottingham Metronome to be announced very soon.
The Grand Final will take place on Tuesday 24th August 2021 at Nottingham Metronome.
