Say the word is a project born out of trauma.
When I was 16 I was raped.
When I was 26 I was raped.
I shared my story as a blog post in 2019. I received many messages of support and solidarity. I also received messages from fellow survivors who wanted to tell their story, but hadn't yet found the courage to do so.
I didn't want to leave these people without a platform so I decided to put them all in a book.
'Say the word' was published in May 2020. It is a collection of stories, poetry and prose from men and women who have been sexually assaulted, abused or raped. Most of which have been share anonymously.
This project is now moving from page to stage! And in order to do this we need your help.
The main aim of Say the word is to help others find the courage to speak up and speak out, whether that be to a friend, a therapist, a counsellor or take the big step of sharing publicly.
I want men and women to be able to rid themselves of the shame they feel and be able to know once and for all that it was not their fault. This should never, ever be something that just happens.
The book has already helped and inspired many others and I know this play will continue with this mission!
We are looking to raise £10,000 in order to continue moving forward with this project, which starts with the play.
The funds raised will go towards paying several different aspects.
This will include; (but not limited to)
Rehearsal space
Tech hire
Actors
Singers
Performers
Director
Producer
Costumes

From the moment I began putting the book together I knew this would go on stage. And to be finally putting the pieces together feels amazing.
I am so grateful for al the support I've received so far and the belief in this project too! Thank you to anyone and everyone who supports us.
You honestly have no idea how much this means to not only me but thousands of men and women who have felt trapped in victim mode for so long.
