Hello, i wish everyone is having a great day, i'm making this gofundme because im faced with some difficult issues
My name is Jae, but most of you might know me as Maruco. I'm 22 years old local artist living in Montreal. Through strings of unfortunate events, i had to immigrate to Canada all by myself at the age of 9. Growing up alone with no family in a foreign world was very tough but I made it work with what I had. However more real problems started appearing when i turned 18.
When I became a legal adult, I was facing existential threats of being able to live in Canada. After a decade, i was still living off my student/work visa, which made my life so uncertain and vulnerable. Thus, i decided to start my Permanent Residency program in hopes of being able to get a Citizenship in the future. After series of hard work of learning french and qualifying government regulations, I've fought through a lot of the hard steps. However, huge amount of legal fees and government fees are drowning me
If i fail to go through the immigration process as soon as possible, my time on my visa will run out and i won't be able to extend my stay in Canada. I can't go to Korea because integrating into Korean society will traumatize me like how integrating into Canada was very difficult. Furthermore, I will be forced to go to the MANDATORY MILITARY SERVICES because i still have a Korean citizenship and it will likely have tremendous affect on my career/dreams
As an emerging immigrant artist, i am not eligible for grants or any helps from the government. just until recently, i was happy with what i had even if i seldom have financial issues. I was just trying to be content with the things i have and try to look at the bright side. But now, that i'm faced with this REAL issue, i just feel nauseous just thinking about how i can fight through this
The whole process of getting my PR cost around 2700 CAD. My legal advisor/lawyer was generous enough to wait for me and allowed me to make separate payments but I am feeling very insecure right now.....
