The Incandescent Review is an entirely non-profit, teen run literary magazine with a team hailing from across the globe: from San Diego to Toronto, from Chicago to Shanghai. Our purpose is to create a platform for young adults to express their opinions and emotional responses to world issues in the form of the arts in various mediums. We also hope to be part of the solution to world problems such as global warming and COVID-19 through writing and art contests supporting young artists, writers, and musicians.
By illuminating youth voices, we hope to empower young artists, writers, and musicians everywhere and fuel this generation's flame-like passion to be part of the solution.
To raise money, the IR staff writers are offering revisions while our artists are offering commissions! Your contributions in commissions will not only help those in need but also give our staff artists the opportunity to create more here in The Incandescent Review.
All the money raised through the GoFundMe would go toward funding the website, prizes, submissions, and other expenses. The website will consist of three sections: a regular stream of staff-created work including culture reviews, opinion editorials, and news highlights; a collection of poetry, prose, and art generated by submissions our reader team chooses to publish; an interactive, learning section committed to themed writing, contests, and a forum. We promise high-quality content starting in our quarantine days, and hopefully far into the future.
The word "incandescent" has a double meaning: it contains the imagery of a "luminous glow" while representing a "burning passion." Within the word, it also contains the phrase "I can." We hope that, by illuminating youth voices, we will empower young artists, writers, and musicians everywhere and fuel this generation's flame-like passion to be part of the solution.
