CAARSEA's fundraising campaign

“Change is gonna come” but it’s not happening overnight.

The Colonial Area Anti-Racism and Social Equity Alliance (CAARSEA) provides an important space for dialogue and action in support of equity and social justice in our local community inclusive of Whitemarsh, Plymouth, and Conshohocken, and also in our county, region, state, and country.

Those who started the group, following the Circle the Park event held after George Floyd’s murder, grew to more than 1,000 members in a year’s time. Since our inception, we have held numerous protests, rallies, marches, vigils, town halls, meet and greets, houseless community outreach, as well as community education and community building via Facebook. We have done a lot to address hate and foster positive change (and during a pandemic no less!), but we know there is so much more to do. We want to make CAARSEA a fixture within the Colonial area for many years such that people seek to live, work, and visit here because of the dynamic and inclusive community we are.

In order to sustain the energy needed to fight for change, CAARSEA is becoming an IRS-designated 501(c)4 non-profit organization and is raising support for an annual operating budget to financially support the activities you’ve come to expect from the group as well as the work you’d want to see us do in the future.

We’ve set an initial fundraising goal of $15,000 to support our efforts within the community during the next year.

$5,000 raised will cover operating expenses such as our business incorporation paperwork, a PO Box, our website and a zoom account, insurance, tax filing, event space rentals, photocopying and poster printing, promotional items, and general supplies.

$10,000 raised will cover everything mentioned above and sponsorships / giving to other local community organizations that seek CAARSEA’s support in their efforts to effect change in our community.*

$15,000 raised will cover everything mentioned above and scholarships for local youth to participate in education and enrichment activities.*

*CAARSEA members will be able to nominate groups and individuals for this financial support and the Board of Directors will vote on the allocation of these funds.

NOTE: As a 501c4, CAARSEA will have a Board of Directors comprised of volunteers. There will be no financial compensation for anyone serving on the board. Board members will be encouraged to support CAARSEA with an annual financial gift, but such a gift is not required for participation on the board. Until a bank account is established for CAARSEA, donations will be sent to Suzanne Beers in a holding account. Donations to any 501c4 organization are not considered tax deductible.

Please consider making this hyper-local group, which wants to ensure our community is strong, vibrant, inclusive, equitable, and just, a regular beneficiary of whatever giving you can afford.

Those who are able to give $25 or more will receive a CAARSEA magnet as a gift and a way to identify your affiliation with our organization to your family members, friends, and neighbors.

Individuals or businesses interested in making large gifts or sponsoring CAARSEA events or activities can be recognized publicly for their support.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!
