Help Poetic Pathos Youth Slam Compete and Grow

Hi, everyone. I'm Joel Mayo, Director and coach of Poetic Pathos Youth Slam, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the youth of Fayetteville in providing a space to write, perform and grow in spoken word and other forms of poetry. Our goal is to bring youth together from around the county and provide a safe space for all to come and develop their craft. We host workshops, open mics, and monthly slams, and we work towards creating a competitive team each year that represents Fayetteville at Brave New Voices.
Our organization started at Gray's Creek High School as the first youth poetry slam team in the area. Back in 2017, we expanded to the whole city and stopped being affiliated with the school system in order to reach all youth and expand as a non-profit. We then went to BNV for the first time that year. After a couple years of growth and financial setbacks, we ended up attending BNV again last year and placed 3rd overall.
We hope to go back again this year, as well as continue to grow our organization. Your donation will help us pay for BNV expenses, fees for our workshops, open mics, and slam productions, and the costs in order to become and official non-profit with a 501(c)(3) in order to qualify for grants. We want to grow in order to reach even more youth from around the area and hopefully make a difference in the community. Please consider donating and sharing and help our organization become a place for all burgeoning young writers in the area to call home.
