Howell Station Zoning Committee

Historic Howell Station is a tiny neighborhood of about 300 houses tucked away in Atlanta's rapidly expanding Westside. The neighborhood was originally founded more than 120 years ago by blue collar workers at the nearby railroad. Today the neighborhood still reflects its humble origins with modest homes along quiet streets lined with mature trees. In recent years, investment in Westside Atlanta has exploded and Howell Station now finds itself surrounded by valuable land and large developers reshaping the face of the area. 

Concerned about what the influx of development means for the lives of residents, the neighborhood association formed a group of volunteers to communicate with developers to make their voices heard. Members of the HSNA Zoning Committee are engaged and motivated but we lack the resources of the multimillion dollar companies making decisions that have significant impact on our little community.

Your donation will help HSNA access expert assistance in the form of real estate and zoning attorneys, city planning consultants, and engineers who can help us to understand the impact of these developments and incentivize developers to work with the neighborhood. Without these resources, our home will be reshaped according to the needs of much more powerful entities who may not have our best interests at heart.

Development has already begun at one site within the neighborhood's boundaries with at least 2 more in the planning phases so our needs are urgent. Applications have already been submitted to the city to rezone some residential portions of Howell Station and will likely be put to a vote in June.
