Emergency Surgery for Waffle
First, please keep Waffle in your prayers.
Sunday night 7:00 PM Waffle started colic symptoms. After giving banamine by ourlocal vet treating her, we realized 3 hours later, she was not responding and her symptoms were not going to get any better. She was most likely suffering from a nephrosplenic entrapment (displaced colon).
Without surgery, she would not make it through the night. The closest surgical facility is now in Tryon, NC.
Our F350 fifth wheel truck is broken down and at the repair shop, and we had no way to pull our 6 horse slant load horse trailer.
Sunday night 10:45 PM Dr. Banner and I were desperate to find either a truck to pull the trailer or someone to ship her asap. After about 8 phone calls/texts, praise God we found Jaqueline and she was willing to make the trip in the middle of the night! Our heroine was so kind to travel from her home in Edisto.
Monday 2:00 AM Jacqueline departing with Waffle for emergency nephrosplenic entrapment surgery (displaced colon known as colic).
She made it through the surgery. Notice the large gauze bandage surrounding her body.
Isn't she sweet?
