Bret Alexander Kidney Transplant Recipient Fund

Donation protected
Approximately 20 years ago Bret was diagnosed with PKD, or polycystic kidney disease, an inherited disease which over time may necessitate a kidney transplant...which is where Bret is at this point in his life.

Many of you know Bret as a friend, classmate or neighbor.   You may know him as an incredibly gifted songwriter and performer.  Maybe you followed his career through his days as the main songwriter of The Badlees, or possibly with the Cellarbirds or Gentleman East or have had the opportunity to catch one of his solo performances.

I have known Bret his entire life, through all phases of his life...including his life with PKD of which there is no cure.  I am his aunt. Bret is scheduled for a kidney transplant from a donor who after much testing is a perfect match. I too have known his donor all her life.   I am her mother.

Surgery is scheduled for February 18, 2020. While hospitalization will be approximately one week, Bret’s recuperative phase will be lengthy, and during this time he will not be able to return to work.  The out of pocket medical expenses and travel expenses for postoperative care can reach astronomical proportions, not to mention everyday living expenses. We all know that, unfortunately, our bills still have to be paid and financial obligations have to be met no matter what life throws our way.  A financial crisis such as this is certain to cause great stress and worry for someone who should be putting every bit of focus on healing.

I am asking for two things.  One, please say a prayer for Bret and Britt, for their surgeons, and their entire transplant team.  Two, please consider donating to help alleviate the financial hardship that Bret and his family will be facing.  No amount is too small! Every penny helps!

Bret Alexander and Brittany Wilson are first cousins, but on February 18 they will share a bond that is much more than just being born into the same family.  Both of them are compassionate and totally unselfish people who would do anything to help someone in need. Please help us by giving back and donating to Bret so he can get back to doing what he does best….entertaining us with his gift of music!
