Help Support the Lopez Family

Donation protected

On January 4, 2020, our friends and close family were traveling back from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon to Oklahoma City, OK. As they approached the town of Miguel Aleman, Tamaulipas they became victims of a group of armed men. Juanita Lopez, who was driving the vehicle was struck several times. She is in critical condition. Abdiel Lopez, her 10 year old son, was struck on both of his legs and is also in critical condition. Sadly, Simei Lopez, the son of Oscar and Juanita Lopez was killed. He was only 13 years old.

We are remembering Simei as a loving son, brother and a great friend. His mild temper drew so many people to him. Although he was quiet, many love to be around him. He enjoyed riding his bike with his brother Abdiel. He has so many friends that love him and enjoyed spending time together. Simei was very intelligent. He loved playing with puzzles that nobody else could figure out. His little brother, Abdiel, was very protective of Simei. He was always by his side making sure he was okay. Simei loved eating burgers at a local restaurant, The Garage. His life made a huge impact on so many of us.

His father, Oscar, was not with them during the attack. He flew down as soon as he could to be with his family. Abdiel and Juanita are having a difficult time receiving treatment for various reasons. The family wants to be transferred to a trauma hospital in Texas in order to receive the help they need and also to be closer to family and friends during this difficult time. Oscar is the financial provider for the family. This situation has been extremely expensive. Between the physical loss of a vehicle and personal items, medical expenses, time away from work and not to mention a funeral the family is going to struggle to make ends meet.

We are close friends and neighbors who have been in constant communication with the family the entire time. We started this GoFundMe to help our friends. All the money raised will be for Oscar and his family both for immediate needs as well as ongoing expenses that will be anticipated.

We are deeply saddened because of this tragedy. We long for the time when God will “wipe out every tear . . . , and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.”—Revelation 21:4.
