Brody's European School Trip 2024

My son Brody is 15 years old, and is currently a Grade 10 french immersion student at Cole Harbour District High School in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. His school is planning a trip for Grade 11 students to visit Europe in 2024, with stops in Spain, Italy, and France.

My husband and I have agreed to allow Brody to partake in this trip as we believe it is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for him. We are paying for the trip, but have created this GoFundMe on his behalf so he can try to raise some of the additional spending money he will need for this trip for things like souvenirs, snacks, and excursions not covered in the main cost.

He is trying to raise $1500 CDN.

I asked Brody to write about why he wants to go on this trip, and this is what he had to say...

Europe Trip 2024

Hello everybody. My name is Brody, and I am in 10th grade. My school is planning a field trip to Europe in 2024, when I will be in grade 11.

The field trip will be around 2 weeks long, and we will be exploring and learning about culture, architecture, cuisine, and everything else curricular. The school will be picking thirty interested current grade 10 students, and a few lucky grade 11s. 

The trip is about $5 300 dollars, not including personal money for souvenirs, lunch, carry-ons, European charging ports, data costs, etc. The flights, drives, hotels, breakfasts and suppers are all pre-planned, and so are the destinations for the trip.

We will be going to Ontario, then flying to Madrid, where we will be sightseeing, exploring, learning, photographing, hanging out with friends and having fun for a few days, then we will go to Paris, and do all those fun things aforementioned there. Afterwards comes a trip to Italy, to visit Vatican City, Pompeii, Capri, etc.

With all the sightseeing, flights, drives, adventures, destinations, and memories, fifty-three hundred dollars is a reasonable price to pay for this once in a lifetime experience, and I would really appreciate any amount of donations to go on this trip with my acquaintances, teachers, and all the friends I will make along the journey.

I have always wanted to explore the world, especially Europe. To me, Europe has a very diverse natural beauty, and I have wanted to go there my whole life. This school trip will give me a once in a lifetime chance to go explore my dream continent, whilst being with my 10th grade friends. I will never get this chance again in my life, and it would be a dream come true to go on this trip.

Since I am not of legal working age for open jobs around me, I cannot work for this trip, I can only do fundraisers like selling cookies, bottle drives, etc. I could also shovel snow, lawn mow, etc. but that wouldn’t get me nearly enough for my goal.

The trip’s price is overwhelming, but it is for a dream experience. I do not want to rely on my parents to fulfil this price goal, as I do not want to seem like a greedy child, or a beggar. I will work to achieve this goal, but I do need help in order to get there.

That is why I am making this gofundme page, so people can help me reach my dream.

Any donation helps, a dollar is still a dollar, although with the costly expense of this trip, larger amounts would be greatly and immeasurable appreciated.
