What can $5 get you these days?

Half a cup of overpriced Starbucks coffee? A round trip fare on the MTA? 40% of a NYC cocktail? Half a burrito at Chipotle? Half a discounted movie ticket?

I am currently asking for $5 from my friends and family (and their friends and family) can also contribute to 100% of what I am seeking for to continue my college education at the University at Albany.

I applied to the University at Albany in 2015, and while I did not get in then, I spent the next two years focusing and working my hardest to end up where I am today--an ambitious young woman on the pre-law track, with a 3.5 GPA and an acceptance to one of her state's top schools.
Getting to where I am, however, did not come without its challenges. I spent two semesters at small liberal arts college that met most of my educational needs, but none of my financial needs. After spending two years working on my grades, I came home to a $30,000 non-deferred student loan (which means my family and I have to pay it back now, even though I'm still in school). Determined to succeed and continue on the pre-law track with a particular interest in computer science, I worked full time while attending Hunter College part-time in order to save for my education. All of this hard work led to my acceptance to the University at Albany. 

All I need now to reach my goals is the support of friends and family, and those willing to contribute. 

I'm asking for $5 from each of you (because I think most of us can afford it), but if you have it in your heart to contribute more, that's great! But really... 

All it takes is $5. Why wait? 

Your contribution to my success at University at Albany will go towards the following fees associated with the cost of attendance:
* Room and board ($4,182)
* Academic excellence and university fees ($250)
* Comprehensive service fee ($656) 
* Meal plan services ($2,550) 
* Books and other supplies ($1,000)
* Personal, travel, and other associated fees ($800)
* Student activity fees ($500) 
                          Total cost: $10,000

I have come up with half of these fees, and am now seeking the other $5,000 from contributions. 
September 1 is the deadline for this campaign, so please share with your friends and family.
