We love you Shweea ❤️

My beautiful, beloved sister Shweea was diagnosed with advanced stage 3 ovarian cancer in October 2018. After a very tough year involving a very traumatic operation, a 6-month course of chemotherapy followed by 6-months on a new treatment trial, we have just learned that the cancer has returned and the new trial treatment and standard cancer maintenance drugs have not worked for her.

Shweea has just been through a second traumatic surgery last week but sadly the operation was not successful, as all the disease couldn’t be removed without causing organ damage.

Her only traditional medical option now is another course of chemotherapy augmented by a course of a drug called Avastin. The chemotherapy is thankfully available on the NHS but the Avastin is not available on the NHS in England. Avastin has been recommended to Shweea by senior consultants at Hammersmith and UCL Hospitals and The London Clinic.  Avastin is the recommended maintenance drug for Shweea by the top oncology consultants in England.

Avastin has been proven to delay cancer reoccurrence and prolong the life of stage 4 cancer sufferer’s.

The Avastin costs £2,700 a cycle and Shweea will need to be treated with it every 3 weeks, and for as long as it helps keep her with us.  One year’s treatment is almost £50,000.

We have looked to transfer to a hospital in Scotland where Avastin is available on the NHS but shweea is not eligible there for the chemotherapy combination she needs.

We don’t have the luxury of time to appeal to the government to make this drug available to ALL of the United Kingdom and ALL patients who need it.

Avastin is the only treatment that will give Shweea a fighting chance and we cannot bear for her not to have the opportunity to have it.

Prior to becoming ill, Shweea had a wonderful career as a dancer and then went on to become a children’s dance teacher for many London primary schools. She was and is extremely health conscious. Shweea very rarely drinks alcohol, has never smoked, has never taken drugs and has never eaten meat. Shweea is complimenting her medical treatment with a vegan, sugar free, high vitamin diet and a strong focus on personal wellbeing. She is determined to beat the odds and overcome the cancer and outlive the doctors prognosis of 5 years (with the assistance of Avastin).

We are looking at DNA, Blood, Cell and Gene testing to see if any targeted treatment can help but these tests are also not available on the NHS and are extremely expensive. £3000- £5000 per test.

We desperately need your help – however big or small to ensure Shweea gets Avastin and all the help and support she needs.

Thank you for anything you can do to help.
