Screw Cancer

Hi, my name is Brooke and I am Rob Chaco's daughter. Recently our family has found out that my dad has been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Lymphoma is a cancer that begins in infection-fighting cells of the immune system, called lymphocytes. These cells are in the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, bone marrow, and other parts of the body. When you have lymphoma, lymphocytes change and grow out of control. Thankfully, there are many treatment options that may involve  chemotherapy, medication, radiation therapy and so on. However, treatment costs are not very affordable especially during these trying times with the Covid-19  virus. Along with that, chemotherapy drugs and radiation can destroy all types of healthy blood cells and harm the body's production of new ones. It can cause low levels of red blood cells (the cells that carry oxygen) which can lead to anemia, which causes fatigue, paleness, shortness of breath, and a fast heartbeat. That being said, it is going to become increasingly difficult for my dad to continue working. I am in a particularly difficult situation in terms of being able to help because he is about five thousand miles away in Hawaii while I am here in New York. I am unable to see him until traveling becomes more safe and it breaks my heart that I can't be by his side while he starts his journey to becoming healthy again. While I understand that everyone is fighting their own battles right now and that money can be tight, just know that even 5 dollars can help me get closer to my goal in helping my dad in any way I can.
