Korean Food for Health Care Workers

As New York City was reaching its peak of COVID-19 cases in April, my mother's Korean restaurant, SUNG BOOK DONG , in Little Neck, Queens was preparing healthy meals for health care workers in the hardest-hit hospitals of Queens and Brooklyn.

With the support of an angel network of friends who donated generously to this cause, we delivered over 800 meals to front line health care workers at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, New York-Presbyterian Queens, Kings County / SUNY Downstate Brooklyn, NYU Langone-Brooklyn, Brookdale Hospital Brooklyn, and Montefiore Emergency Department in the Bronx. 

This GoFundMe page has been created to ask for your support through a donation to continue the healthy food deliveries to those who continue to risk their lives every day. The delivery is free as I do them on behalf of my mother's restaurant and the healthcare workers.

It has been an honor to serve in this way and to see the faces of those who are so brave in the work they do. One of the ER doctors is my partner who works at Kings County and has played an instrumental role in connecting us to the various hospitals that appreciate the meals. 

My mother's restaurant is proud to support this cause with a discounted rate of $10-15/meal depending on the hospital's preference for individually wrapped meals or catering trays, as this covers the cost of materials and the small staff that continues to work at my mom's takeout-only restaurant during this time. The restaurant can accommodate up to 125 meals per delivery that can be custom requested to make a combination of chicken, beef, fish, and vegetarian meals. Kimchi is always included of course!
