Mom & Child Hospital Expenses

At 34 weeks pregnant, I began having serious stomach and back pain. It was to the point that I could not move. I went to the hospital to find out that I had a serious kidney infection. After being treated for that, I was still in an unbearable amount of pain. The hospital tried to discharge me after being there for almost a week. A doctor, who was not my own, told the nurses not to discharge me. She contacted my OB and had me sent to the hospital that my OB worked in. There I found out that I also had an infection in my uterus and had to be induced immediately.  My baby was born prematurely, she had to stay in NICU for over a month. I am still going back and forth to the hospital because my body is still going through things that doctors can not explain. The bills are piling up quickly and it has gotten very hard to pay everything, especially with having a new baby in a new house alongside my toddler. 

There was so much more craziness going on during this time. I spoke to a lawyer who told me that there was clearly negligence and malpractice. However, since my baby and I both lived through it, she can not move forward with the case because it is expensive to go after hospitals.
