This was March 2017, more than 3 years ago, where we were granted the "luxury" of spending one hour together in a meeting room inside Sendai's Family Court, in Japan.

The last time we met was August 2018, it's now almost 2 years since the last time I saw their smiles and heard their voices.
What's going on
You may think "what happened to your families?!" as it seems so out of this world in most countries, but let us "reassure" you that this is absolutely common in Japan.
Yes, Japan, one of the G7 countries, where more than 150,000 children every single year are kidnapped by one of their parents with the full support of the Japanese authorities. That means one parent decides to take the children without the consent of his/her spouse, and to leave.
However surprising this may sound, in the Japanese Parliament politicians are discussing about this problem on a daily basis, mentioning that 1 in 4 children born every year, at one point in their lives won't be able to meet one of their parents anymore.
This is frequent for international couples, in which one of the spouses is Japanese. Hence the "protection" from Japanese authorities. When this happens between two Japanese nationals, authorities tend to give custody automatically to the mother, or to the parent that first kidnapped the child.
The Japanese Police doesn't act because culturally, parental abductions are not considered crimes.
"The child is with your wife/husband, this is a simple family matter" and that's it, we've heard this countless times.
This is shocking, how come most people have never heard about it before?
Despite the issue being fairly unknown at a global level, foreign governments have been pressing Japan to change for decades.

What we have done so far
We have met with our heads of states who spoke to Japan Prime Minister Abe to no avail.
We have filed a complaint to the United Nations Human Rights Council against the State of Japan exposing a pattern of gross violations of the rights of the child.
We have presented the issue in front of the Committee on Petitions of the European Parliament.
We have organized press conferences in Japan and have raised awareness through major international medias.

Despite all this, the Government of Japan has done absolutely nothing to improve the situation.
Here's a summary of the money we have spent so far (just the two of us combined)
Japanese attorneys legal fees: 200,000 Euro
Private Investigators to look for our children: 20,000 Euro
European attorneys legal fees: 15,000 Euro
Trips to Rome, Paris and Brussels to discuss the issue with European authorities: 10,000 Euro
Despite fighting for years and Japanese Family Court judges pressing our wives to allow our children to meet us, all court orders have been ignored and totally unpunished.
The Family Court limitations reach the extent of judges and attorneys apologizing to us for not having enough powers to convince our wives to allow our children to meet us.
Our next actions
Child kidnappings in Japan must stop.
We must take our fight to the next level.
In 2020, we are going to face the costs below:

New lawsuit at the European Court of Justice: 20,000 Euro
New trips to Rome, Paris and Brussels: 10,000 Euro

しかし、これは意外なことに聞こえるかもしれませんが、日本の政治家は国会で日々この問題について話し合っています。毎年生まれている子供のうち4人に1人は、ある時点で両親の1人に会うことができなくなると述べています。
これは、配偶者の1人が日本人である国際的なカップルによく見られます。日本の当局からの「保護」を得ています。これが2人の日本人の間で発生した場合、当局は母親、または最初に子供を誘拐した親に自動的に監護権を与える傾向があります。
文化的に、親による拉致は犯罪とは見なされないため、日本の警察は動きません。
「子供はあなたの妻（もしくは夫）と一緒です。これは単純な家族の問題です」。そしてそれだけです。私たちはこの言葉を数え切れないほど聞きました。
